Ultimately, when it comes to reducing household carbon emissions, it’s important to look
at all the options available. As time goes on, manufacturers and suppliers need to have the
documentation and accreditation to offer the best advice they can to the UK house builder to find the
most cost-effective solution.
As a company, GL is addressing the aforementioned sustainability measures as it is important both for our
business and in being a responsible member of a house builder’s supply chain.
STORING IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE HARVEST
Our MD, Anthony Ottway, has previously spoken about how and why housebuilders and developers should be
prioritising battery storage alongside solar capture. We have therefore developed the GridBuddy range of batteries and
inverters through our joint venture partnership with Sunsynk, one of the world’s leading inverter manufacturers.
Installing solar panels has often been seen as a ‘quick win’ for both developers and homeowners in becoming more
sustainable. But, as we all know, power is only generated by solar in daylight hours. Inverters should have the capability
to allow topping up, thereby utilising overnight tariffs.
GL has developed different ‘Green Packages’ designed for different-sized homes with varying roof configurations.
These packages start from a solution of a micro-inverter of 800w through to a 3.6kW hybrid inverter working with a
stackable 5.32kWh battery system. This range covers all UK house builder requirements.
We know that for developers it’s more than just achieving sustainability, it’s also about how we get to that point.
Everyone is asking the same questions; it’s not just the ‘what’ but the ‘how’. From the housing of batteries and system
sizes to after sales support and selling the system as a customer extra, we cover it all and are here to help.
Our teams are working with developers day in, and day out to assist with the change in the way homes are powered
and the knock-on effect on how they are built.
We are continuing our journey by implementing the right steps. We know what needs to be done to be an ethical,
considerate supplier – something we take very seriously. This not only applies to processes but also to the products
we develop and supply and how we fit them into modern homes to ensure not only reduced carbon emissions but a
greater living environment for homeowners.
